About GoNesting

Nesting software that is quick to start and straight about results

GoNesting is an online nesting tool for shops that cut parts from flat sheets on laser, plasma, waterjet and CNC router machines. It takes the parts in your DXF files, arranges them on your sheets using as little material as it can, and hands back files your CAM software can open.

Why we built it

Why we built GoNesting

Packing parts by their bounding rectangle wastes the material around every curve, notch and hole. True-shape nesting avoids that waste, but it has mostly come inside large desktop CAM packages. We wanted it available from a browser, free to try, with a simple monthly price for shops that nest every week.

So GoNesting does one job. It packs the parts from your DXF files onto your sheets by their real outline and holes, and gives you back one DXF per sheet plus a PDF report. Toolpaths, lead-ins and machine settings stay in the software your shop already runs.

  • One job, done properly

Nesting, and the files that come out of it. We would rather do that well than bolt on half a CAM package.

  • Real numbers, or none

Every figure on this website comes from a real run of the engine, never an estimate and never a round number picked to look good.

  • Limits in plain sight

Where a setting or a method does not help, we say so. What GoNesting is not is as much a part of this page as what it does.

We would rather be dull than overstated. What your own parts do depends on their shapes, your gap and your sheet sizes — so the honest answer is always to try it on a job of your own.

Scope

What GoNesting is not

It is not a CAM package. Knowing what it leaves to your other software is the quickest way to judge whether it fits your shop.

  • No toolpaths or G-codeYou get nested DXF files and a PDF report. Lead-ins, toolpaths and machine programs stay in the CAM or machine software you already use.
  • No kerf compensationYour geometry is placed as drawn, never offset. Kerf is applied by your CAM software, as usual.
  • Not a CAD editorNesting only moves and turns parts. It never stretches, shrinks or simplifies them, and you can check any placed part against your file.
  • No offcut inventoryThere is no store of leftovers between jobs. An offcut goes in as a custom sheet size for the job you are nesting.
  • No DWG or SVG importASCII DXF only, up to 20 MB per file. Export an ASCII DXF from your CAD program and upload that.
  • No online checkoutThe free plan needs no card at all. Pro is switched on by hand, by us, after you email from the address you signed up with.

Where GoNesting is today Beta

The app still carries a beta badge, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. The nesting engine, both exports and the history are built and working; co-edge cutting is newer, and marked beta wherever it appears. Every change we make is written up in the changelog.

  • Nesting runs on your own computer’s processor cores, in the browser
  • Co-edge cutting is in beta — check the first sheet on your machine
  • One mailbox, info@gonesting.com, for support and for Pro
  • Every claim on this site is checked against what the software actually does

Your machine does the work
