GoNesting changelog
What has changed in the nesting engine, the DXF export and your account, newest first. Figures are from tests on real DXF files.
Real results on the website New
The examples on this website now come from real runs of the nesting engine on real DXF files.
- The home page shows a real 188-part sheet: 86.9% of the material used with a 1 mm gap. New
- The comparison page shows ten real DXF files nested both by bounding box and by true shape, with the part counts and material used for each. New
- The contact form sends your message straight to info@gonesting.com. New
Tighter grids, better cut order, DXF reading fixes Improved
A large round of engine and export work, each change checked on real customer-style DXF files.
- Repeated parts can now be laid in an exact grid measured to fractions of a millimetre. A phone-stand bracket fits 40 on a 1200 × 800 mm sheet at a 1 mm gap, up from 33. Improved
- DXF exports are written in cutting order: holes before outlines, parts that sit inside another part before that part, and a short route between parts. Travel between cuts dropped by 38% to 76% on the test jobs. Improved
- Small parts that match the size of a slot in another part are no longer pushed onto a new sheet. A phone-holder kit that needed two sheets now fits on one. Fix
- Old-style POLYLINE drawings are read correctly. A box-with-letters file that came through as 4 broken shapes now gives its 29 real parts. Fix
- Holes are attached to the right part in block-based drawings, so parts no longer appear with cut-outs bigger than themselves. Fix
- Much faster nesting for long, thin parts: one test file went from about 111 seconds to 5 seconds per arrangement. Improved
- When two layouts fit the same parts on the same sheets, the one that leaves the larger reusable corner offcut is kept. Improved
Security and reliability Improved
Account protection and fewer wasted runs.
- Sign-in is locked for a while after repeated wrong passwords, and verification emails are rate-limited. Improved
- Refreshing the nesting page no longer uses a nesting run: your last result is shown again if the parts, sheets and settings have not changed. Fix
- Uploaded drawings and account files are protected from direct download. Improved
Accounts, plans and history New
Self-service accounts and a clear view of what you have run.
- Sign up with a 6-digit code sent to your email. New
- Profile page for your name, photo and password. Changing a password needs a code from your email. New
- Plans: a free account includes 5 nesting runs, and Pro has no limit. New
- Nesting history with search, filters and CSV export. New
Denser nesting Fix
Two changes that fit more parts on the same sheets.
- Removed an extra 1 mm ring that was reserved around every placed part. 100 × 100 mm parts on a 1000 × 700 mm sheet now fit 70, up from 63; across 60 test setups, 8.4% more parts fit on the first sheet. Fix
- Both sheet orientations are tried, so entering 1200 × 800 or 800 × 1200 gives the same result. Improved
Grid layouts for repeated parts New
For jobs made mostly of one part.
- When one part makes up most of a job, it can be laid in an interlocking grid if that fits more than free placement. Right triangles went from 59 to 80 per sheet in testing. New
Pocket nesting and co-edge fixes Fix
Safer placement inside cut-outs and faster co-edge jobs.
- Parts nested inside another part’s cut-out no longer cross the edge of the hole. Fix
- Co-edge exports merge shared edges into single cut lines, and a 460-part job over 3 sheets nests in about 6 seconds instead of 33.5. Improved
